In the following years he continued to play for the Sudbury Wolves, before moving to the London Knights and then Toledo Storm in the East Coast Hockey League during the 1996/97 season.

For the 1998/99 season he signed a contract with the Waco Wizards in the Western Professional Hockey League and moved to Central-Texas Stampede after a year . With this club he also started the 2000/01 season before moving to the Amarillo Rattlers .

At the beginning of the 2001/02 season he moved from Canada to Germany to ESV Kaufbeuren in the Oberliga, where he also spent the 2002/03 season.

In 2002 Newhook signed a contract with EHC Munich in the league for the 2002/03 season and with this team he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season .

The EV Ravensburg secured the services of Newhook initially for the period between 2005 and 2007 and the contract was for the 2007-08 season extended.

In Ravensburg he played a key role in the promotion, ended the 2006/07 season as the Ravensburger striker with the best points and was then voted Player of the Year.

Despite his success in Ravensburg, Newhook decided to return to the league, where he was under contract with the Starbulls Rosenheim in the 2008/09 season and with them made it to the 2nd Bundesliga.

For the 2010/11 season he joined the ECDC Memmingen in the fourth-class Bayernliga . In the 2014/2015 and 2015/16 seasons he played with ERC Sonthofen in the Oberliga Süd .

In April 2016 it was announced that he was moving from the Oberliga to the Landesliga for EV Füssen , with whom he was promoted to the Oberliga Süd in 2019. Due to his age and the greater effort in the major league, he then moved back to the ESC Kempten in the regional league.
