Rosalie Crutchley (born January 4, 1920 in London , † July 28, 1997 ibid) was a British actress in theater, film and television. Between 1947 and 1997 she played character roles in over 160 film productions in the cinema and on television. Including in Quo vadis? , Story of a nun , Freud , Until the blood freezes or Memed, my hawk .

life and career

Rosalie Sylvia Crutchley, born in London in 1920, had her first screen appearance in 1947 in a minor supporting role in Ronald Neame's crime film The Saving Song . A few years later she made a striking film appearance as Nero's outcast lover Acte in Mervyn LeRoy's monumental film Quo vadis? at the side of Peter Ustinov . This was followed by roles in Ken Annakins Adventure A princess falls in Blazing sense by director Richard Brooks , in Philip Leacock film drama The Spanish Gardener or in Fred Zinnemann's award-winning drama story of a nun as novice mistress on the side of Audrey Hepburn .

In the 1960s she was seen in the cinema in John Huston's drama Freud as Amalia Freud next to Montgomery Clift , then in Robert Wise's horror film Until the Blood Freezes or again in Fred Zinnemann's film production Your time is up . During the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s she played character roles in films such as Storm Heights with Timothy Dalton , directed by Robert Fuest , in Curtis Harrington's horror classic Who Set Aunt Ruth On Fire? , in Arthur Hiller's musical The Man from La Mancha in Ken Russell's music biography Mahler or in Moustapha Akkad's historical drama Mohammed - The Messenger of God . In 1983 she was cast by the director Michael Mann in his horror film The Unheimliche Macht in the role of Josefa. A year later she played again alongside Peter Ustinov in Memed, mein Falke , also in Peter Yates ' film production Eleni , in Two Worlds directed by Chris Menges or in Christine Edzard's film drama The Fool .
