The ship was ordered on October 6, 1995 with the later Finneagle from Stena Ferries, London, from Astilleros Españoles. On February 14, 1997, the ship was laid down. While construction was still going on, on June 25, 1997, it was decided to sell the later Finnclipper and Finneagle to Finnlines, Helsinki, after completion. The launch took place on February 1, 1998. The delivery took place on May 19, 1999 to Stena Rederi, Gothenburg. On the same day the ship was handed over to Poseidon Schifffahrt in Lübeck. On June 10, 1999, the ship, which was put into service as Finnclipper, started traffic between Travemünde and Helsinki .
On December 19, 2001, the ship was transferred to the Finnish shipping register and Helsinki became its new home port. On January 7, 2003, moved Finnclipper marketed by Finn link to the route Naantali-Kapellskär. In November 2004 it was sold to RoPax I Clipper. On January 2, 2005, she was transferred to the Swedish shipping register with her new home port of Malmö . It was used by Nordö Link in traffic between Travemünde and Malmö. She switched back to FinnLink in January 2006 and has since operated the Naantali – Kapellskär route with her sister ship Finneagle and two other ships. In the following years she was used on various Finnlines routes in the Baltic Sea. In January and February 2018, Stena Line chartered the ship between Rostock and Trelleborg .
Used as Rosalind Franklin
The ship has been chartered to the Spanish shipping company Baleària since April 2018 . After a renovation in Algeciras , the ship has been sailing as Rosalind Franklin under the flag of Cyprus with its home port Limassol since May 2018 .
