Roszków (German Roschkau ) is a place in Upper Silesia . Administratively it is located in the municipality of Krzyżanowice (Kreuzort) in the powiat Raciborski (district of Ratibor) in the Silesian Voivodeship .

Roszków is four kilometers southeast of the township of Krzyżanowice (Kreuzort), 13 kilometers southeast of the district town Racibórz (Ratibor) and 59 kilometers southwest of the voivodeship capital Katowice .

The place is in close proximity to the border with the Czech Republic.

history

The place was created in the 13th century at the latest. On July 25, 1264, he was first mentioned in a document from Rauden as "Roscochove".

On a map of the Duchy of Teschen from 1736 by Johann-Wolfgang Wieland, the place was entered as Roschkau . The place was mentioned in 1784 in the book Beytrage to describe Silesia as Roschkau , belonged to a prince von Lichnowsky and was in the principality of Ratibor. At that time he had a Vorwerk , 17 farmers, twelve gardeners and two Häusler. In 1865 Roschkau consisted of a manor and a village. The Neuhof Vorwerk was part of the estate. At that time the place had 14 farms, two half-farmers, four quarter-farmers, ten gardeners, two half-gardeners and nine local farmers, as well as one Kretschmer (innkeeper). Church and school were in Kreuzort.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 175 people eligible to vote locally voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 146 for membership in Poland. On the estate, 85 voted for Germany and 18 for Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Roschkau remained with the German Empire . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Ratibor .

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Roszków . In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship. In 1975 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established powiat Raciborski and the Silesian Voivodeship.
