The village of Rothenbügl is part of the Markt Painten in the Lower Bavarian district of Kelheim .

Rothenbügl is located about three kilometers southeast of the center of Painten and is at an altitude of 518  m above sea level. NHN in the eastern part of the southern Franconian Alb . The place is located in the south-eastern part of the historical Tangrintel area , a predominantly wooded plateau that lies between the rivers of the Altmühl and the Schwarzen Laber .

history

As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the village became an independent rural community. The community with an area of ​​64.92 hectares included the village of Rothenbügl as well as the village of Viergstetten in the east and the wastelands Streithäusl and Wasenhütte in the west. The Rothenbügl community was dissolved as early as 1946 and incorporated into the Painten community. The village Rothenbügl made this one within the unincorporated area Paintner forest located Siedlungsenklave , which - in contrast to the western exclave with the wastes of armed Häusl and Wasenhütte - had no territorial connection to the municipality of Painten. This connection was only established when the municipality-free area of ​​Paintner Forst was dissolved on January 1, 2013 and incorporated into the municipality of Painten. In 1987 the village of Rothenbügl had 88 inhabitants.
