The armed forces of Bhutan make up the military of the Kingdom of Bhutan .

history

When the Chinese People's Liberation Army marched into Tibet in 1950 , the country decided to build its own armed forces.

Bhutan is dependent on the military support of India , so that the Indian Air Force takes over the air surveillance for the country.

structure

The armed forces are divided into the Royal Bhutan Army , to which the Royal Body Guards ( Garde des Druk Gyalpos ) and the Royal Bhutan Police , which are subordinate to the Nangsi Lhenkhag (Ministry of Home and Culture). Furthermore, a supplementary militia system is currently being set up.

Due to the country's inland location, it has no navy .

Royal Bhutan Army

The Royal Bhutan Army has 6,000 soldiers , around 1,000 of whom are employed by the Royal Body Guards. The Royal Body Guards are considered the elite organization of the Bhutanese army.

Royal Bhutan Police
