Rudi Ying ( Chinese  英 如 鏑  /  英 如 镝 , Pinyin Yīng Rúdí ; born August 16, 1998 in Beijing ) is a Chinese ice hockey player with US citizenship who has been under contract with Kunlun Red Star in the Continental Hockey League since July 2016 and has been playing in the Wysschaja Hockey League for its farm team KRS-ORG Beijing since 2018 . He is the grandson of Ying Ruocheng .

Career

After learning to play ice hockey in the People's Republic of China , Ying moved to the United States at the age of nine . He returned to China in the summer of 2016 when he signed a two-year contract with the newly formed Kunlun Red Star team from the Continental Hockey League . He had previously been drawn in the GMHL draft by the Bradford Rattlers in the twelfth round as a total of 326th player, but without signing a contract there. He is the first Chinese to sign a KHL contract. In the 2017/18 season he played for KRS Heilongjiang , Kunlun Red Star's second team, in the Wysschaja Hockey League , but was also used in the KRS Junior youth team in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League . In 2018 the farm team moved from Heilongjiang Province to Beijing and was renamed KRS-ORG Beijing .

International

On the international stage, Ying represented the People's Republic of China at the U18 World Junior Championships in 2014 , 2015 when he was named the best player of his team, and in 2016 in Group B of Division II and the 2017 U20 World Junior Championships when he was named best striker and leader in all offensive categories was also elected the best player of his team, and in 2018 , when he was both second-best scorer and second-best goalscorer (this together with the Bulgarian Daniel Dilkow behind the Israeli Mark Revniaga ), each in Division III .

For the Chinese men's selection , he played for the first time at the 2017 World Cup , when he was promoted from the B to the A group of Division II.
