Rudolf Gustav Buhse

Rudolf Gustav Buhse (born April 10, 1905 in Graudenz ; † November 26, 1997 in Tutzing ) was a German officer in the army of the Wehrmacht and later brigadier general of the Bundeswehr .

Reichswehr and Wehrmacht

Buhse joined the Reichswehr on April 1, 1924 , where he was assigned to the 14th (Baden) Infantry Regiment . After his basic and officer training, he was transferred to the 3rd (Prussian) Infantry Regiment , which remained his main regiment until the end of September 1934. During his service there Buhse was a platoon leader and from September 1928 to March 1929 a recruit officer in Marienwerder . In October 1934 Buhse was transferred to the 4th (MG) Infantry Regiment in Marienburg as a company officer. From October 1935 to September 1937 he completed a general staff course at the War Academy in Berlin . On October 12, 1937 he came to Lüneburg as a company commander to his new main regiment, the 47th Infantry Regiment . With this Buhse took as commander of the III. Battalion in the formation of the 22nd Infantry Division participated in the western campaign, later in the eastern campaign as part of Army Group South , where his division advanced to the Crimea and Sevastopol . Buhse was appointed commander of his regiment on October 15, 1942. He then led this, known as "Kampfgruppe Buhse", in the Africa campaign , where Buhse was taken prisoner by the British on May 9, 1943 .

On September 1, 1956, he joined the Bundeswehr with the rank of colonel . Until 1958 he was the head of the host organization testing group in Hanover . In 1958 he was appointed head of the department for personnel in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn . On July 1, 1959, he became the commander of Panzergrenadierbrigade 2 in Braunschweig . On November 1, 1960 he was appointed commander of the infantry school in Hammelburg and promoted to brigadier general on December 5, 1960 . He commanded the infantry school until his retirement on September 30, 1962.
