Rudolf Schöfberger

Rudolf Schöfberger (born June 29, 1935 in Munich ; † November 9, 2019 there ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Schöfberger was born the son of a master electrician. After completing secondary school at the Ludwig-Oberrealschule in Munich, he entered the middle service of the Deutsche Bundespost , first became a skilled worker and finally worked as a postal assistant. From 1955 he attended evening school, where he passed the Abitur in 1957. He then began studying law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , completing the first state examination in 1963 and the second state examination in 1967. In addition, he studied political science from 1959 to 1963 at the University of Politics in Munich . During his studies, he worked as a working student on night shift in a Siemens AG laboratory .

Schöfberger joined the Bavarian administrative service as a government assessor in 1967 and served as a councilor in the government of Upper Bavaria in 1969/70 . He received his PhD in 1971 with the work The fundamental right to the enjoyment of nature and recreation for Dr. jur. and then worked as a lawyer . In 1971 he was President of the German League for Human Rights .

Political party

Schöfberger joined the Young Socialists and joined the SPD in 1959. He had been chairman of the Young Socialists in South Bavaria since 1964 and was elected regional chairman of the Bavarian Young Socialists in 1967. From 1970 to 1972 he was deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district of Munich, which he headed from 1972 to 1976 as chairman. In September 1985 he was elected by the SPD state executive in Bavaria , to which he had been a member since 1968, to succeed Helmut Rothemund as state chairman of the Social Democrats. In April 1991 he was replaced by Renate Schmidt in this role .

MP

Schöfberger was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1966 until his resignation on December 7, 1972 . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1972 to 1994. From 1972 to 1976 he represented the Munich-South constituency in parliament. From 1976 to 1994 he was drafted into the Bundestag via the Bavarian State List.

Awards

Schöfberger was the first recipient of the Wilhelm Dröscher Prize .

In 1989 he rejected the Bavarian Order of Merit .
