Karl Martin Rudolf von Liebeherr (born September 25, 1817 in Steinhagen , † January 6, 1900 in Havelberg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Rudolf was a son of the landowner Wilhelm von Liebeherr (1769–1842) and his wife Johanne Charlotte, née Haag (1782–1855). His brother Maximilian (1814-1896) was a curator at the University of Rostock and President of the Rostock Higher Regional Court . His sister Thekla (1819-1891) was married to the Prussian Major General Karl von Brauchitsch .

Military career

After visiting the Berlin Cadet House , Liebeherr was transferred to the Kaiser Alexander Grenadier Regiment of the Prussian Army as an aggregated Second Lieutenant on August 13, 1835 and added to the budget in mid-February 1837. In 1844 he was assigned to the rifle factory in Potsdam and from April 1845 to 1848 to the school department of the training infantry battalion. By May 1852, Liebeherr was promoted to captain and company commander . This was followed by promotion to major on March 15, 1859, a position as second commander of the 1st Battalion in the 1st Guard Landwehr Regiment. On May 10, 1860 he was commanded as a battalion leader to the 1st Combined Guard Infantry Regiment, from which the 3rd Guards Regiment emerged on foot in the course of the army increase at the beginning of July 1860 . Liebeherr was given command of the 1st Battalion and was promoted to lieutenant colonel at the end of September 1863 .
