Rudolph von Wachs

Rudolph Heinrich Wilhelm Wachs , von Wachs since 1905 (born March 7, 1850 in Sontra ; † July 2, 1916 ), was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Wachs was the son of a merchant. He joined the 2nd Hanoverian Infantry Regiment No. 77 of the Prussian Army on October 1, 1869 as a one-year volunteer . During the war against France in 1870/71 , Wachs took part with the regiment in the battles at Colombey , Gravelotte , Noisseville and the siege of Metz and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

After the peace treaty he graduated from the Hanover War School and was subsequently promoted to secondary lieutenant on March 9, 1872 . He served for the next few years as an adjutant of the Fusilier Battalion and as a regimental adjutant and on March 22, 1881 became Premier Lieutenant . In position à la suite of his regiment, he was transferred to the 38th Infantry Brigade on September 7, 1881 as adjutant . On April 14, 1887, Wachs was placed in his position à la suite of the 4th Posen Infantry Regiment No. 59 and at the same time promoted to captain . From July 16, 1887 to December 16, 1889 he was then active as a company commander in this regiment. He was then ordered to serve at the War Ministry in Berlin and used as an adjutant in the provisional weapons department. On March 23, 1890, wax was transferred to the ministry and promoted to major on September 17, 1892 . As such he was from March 19 to November 30, 1896 in command of the III. Battalions in the 3rd Grand Ducal Hessian Infantry Regiment (Leib Regiment) No. 117 in Mainz . Subsequently ordered again to serve at the War Ministry, on March 22, 1897, Wachs was entrusted with the management of the business as head of the 1st department (Z 1) of the central department. In this position promoted to lieutenant colonel on April 18, 1899 , he was finally appointed head of department on May 22, 1900. This was followed by his appointment as director of the central department on May 18, 1901 while being promoted to colonel . Wax worked here for the next twelve years. He rose to the rank of general of the infantry and in the meantime was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility in August 1905 by Wilhelm II .

On July 7, 1913, Wachs was released from his post as director of the Central Department and transferred to army officers. In approval of his resignation, Wachs was put up for disposal on August 18, 1913 with the statutory pension and permission to wear the uniform of the 2nd Hanoverian Infantry Regiment No. 77 .

During the First World War , wax was reused as a ZD officer and worked as a general commissioner for military youth training in Berlin and Brandenburg. He died in this capacity on July 2, 1916.
