geography

Ruhlsdorf lies on the base moraine plateau of the Barnim . The core city of Strausberg is about eight kilometers to the west. To the east, the landscape of the Barnim merges into Märkische Schweiz. South of the village is the nature reserve Ruhlsdorfer Bruch with the Ruhlsdorfer See, from which the Lichtenower Mühlenfließ (also Zinndorfer Mühlenfließ , Zinndorfer Fließ , or Garzower Mühlenfließ ) rises. The 22.8 kilometer long stream drains the Barnim plateau around Garzau-Garzin into the Elsensee . The waters of the Elsensee, the most south-westerly link of the Kageler Seenkette, reach the Löcknitz via the BaberowseeBauernseeLiebenberger See and are thus fed into the Spree .
