Ruillé-sur-Loir is a commune Déléguée in the French community Loir en Vallée with 1,217 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Sarthe in the region Pays de la Loire . The inhabitants are called Ruillacois .
On January 1, 2017, Ruillé-sur-Loir was merged with the municipalities of La Chapelle-Gaugain , Lavenay and Poncé-sur-le-Loir to form the new municipality ( Commune nouvelle ) Loir en Vallée. The municipality belonged to the arrondissement of La Flèche and the canton of Château-du-Loir (until 2015: canton of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir ).

Ruillé-sur-Loir is about 42 kilometers southeast of Le Mans on the Loir and belongs to the Coteaux du Loir wine-growing region . The municipality of Ruillé-sur-Loir was surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Sainte- Osmane in the north, Vancé in the northeast, La Chapelle-Gaugain in the east and northeast, Poncé-sur-le-Loir in the east, Tréhet in the southeast, La Chartre-sur- le-Loir in the south and south-west, Lhomme in the west, Courdemanche in the west and north-west and Saint-Georges-de-la-Couée in the north-west.
