Geographical location

The village is located in Western Pomerania , about 120 kilometers northeast of Stettin and about 16 kilometers east of Kołobrzeg (Kolberg) . The Baltic coast with the Ustronie Morskie (Henkenhagen) is about seven kilometers north of the village. The closest neighboring towns are in the east Strachomino (Strachmin) , in the south Połomino (Poldemin) , in the southwest Gąskowo (Ganzkow) and in the west Kukinia (Alt Quetzin) .

To the east of the village was the Rützower See , which was drained in the second half of the 19th century.

history

Stone box graves and a bronze neck ring have been found in the area around the village from prehistoric times . The village was laid out as an anger village in the Middle Ages . The first mention of the village dates from the 12th century: In a document of 1182/1183 the Pomeranian Duke confirmed Bogislaw I. the monastery Stolpe his possessions, including "in Cholberch villa Ruzowe", ie in the country Kolberg the village Rützow. About 30 years later, around 1214, Bishop Sigwin von Cammin gave the Stolpe monastery a tithe of the monastery property at that time, among which "in territorio Cholbergensi villa Rvzzowe" is mentioned.

In 1321 two members of the noble Damitz family , a knight Heinrich Damitz and his brother Hermann, bought the village. Rützow then remained wholly or partially owned by the Damitz family for around 450 years. In 1383 the nunneries in Kolberg and Köslin bought a share of the village, in 1454 the nunnery in Kolberg bought another share. In the 16th century, the noble Kameke family owned a share of Rützow. In the 18th century, the property of Rützow was divided into four parts, which belonged to different members of the Damitz family. Rützow b was sold in 1760 to the secret finance councilor Friedrich Wilhelm von Gerlach (* 1711; † 1780), whose heirs included the chamber president Carl Friedrich Leopold von Gerlach .

In Ludwig Wilhelm Brüggemann's detailed description of the current state of the Royal Prussian Duchy of Western and Western Pomerania (1784), Rützow is named among the noble estates of the Principality of Cammin . There were four farms here (probably the farms of the four estate shares), a preacher, two farms, two half-farmers, two jugs and a preacher's widow's house, a total of 30 households (“fire places”). The number of two jugs can be explained by the fact that at that time the country road from Kolberg to Köslin still ran through the village and travelers had to be taken care of. At the end of the 18th century, a lieutenant Chistoph von Müller bought all of Rützow.

In 1807 Rützow was bought by the wealthy Kolberg merchant Schroeder. Rützow remained in the possession of the Schroeder family until 1907, when his grandson Fritz Schroeder sold it to the Pomeranian settlement company. The Pomeranian Settlement Society settled the estate in 1909, and the new farm positions were distributed throughout the Feldmark. The remnants of Rützow were initially acquired by a Berlin merchant. At the beginning of the 1930s, however, Fritz Schroeder bought back the remaining goods with the manor house.

From the 19th century, a manor district Rützow and a smaller rural community Rützow existed side by side. As of 1895, the manor district Rützow covered 737 hectares and had 198 inhabitants, the rural community Rützow 127 hectares with 63 inhabitants. Later the rural community was incorporated into the manor district. But when the estate was settled in 1909, the estate district was dissolved and a new rural community Rützow took its place.

Before 1945, Rützow formed a rural community in the Kolberg-Körlin district of the Prussian province of Pomerania . There were no other places to live in the community.

Towards the end of the Second World War , the region around Rützow was occupied by the Red Army in the spring of 1945 . After the end of the war, Rützow, like all of Western Pomerania, was placed under Polish administration. The German town received the new Polish name Rusowo . The village population was subsequently expelled by the Polish administrative authority responsible for the place . With the expulsion of the German natives, the place was resettled with Polish civilians.
