The Ruta 43 (short RN 43 ) is a state highway in the Coquimbo in the small North (Norte Chico) of Chile . It is 75.9 km long and completely paved. It connects the cities of La Serena , Ovalle and indirectly Coquimbo with Andacollo .

The national road connects the provincial capitals of Elqui and Limarí with the regional capital . In 2000 it was officially ratified as a national road by Decree Nº 2136 by the MOP .

An assessment for privatization is currently in progress, with the aim of improving the condition of the street and building changes such as the two-lane expansion, conversion of level crossings to underpasses, pedestrian bridges, sidewalks, cycle paths, green spaces and lighting.
