Ryan Vesce (born April 7, 1982 in Lloyd Harbor , New York ) is an American ice hockey player who has played in the National League B position of EHC Olten since May 2017 as the right winger .
Career
Vesce played during his junior career for the university team of Cornell University in the ECAC Hockey , a league in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Between 2000 and 2004, the trained winger played 131 games in four seasons for the team and achieved an average of around one scorer point per game. His best playing year in the course of his studies was in the 2002/03 season, when he scored 45 points in 36 games.
Despite the solid performances during his time at the university, Vesce had gone unnoticed in the NHL Entry Drafts and therefore moved in the summer of 2004 as a free agent in the senior sector. He signed a contract with Rögle BK from the second-rate Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan , with whom he missed promotion to the Elitserien . The native American was able to convince with 45 points in 43 games in his first professional season. Nevertheless, Vesce moved back to North America in the summer of 2005, where he had signed a one-year contract with the Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League , the cooperation partner of the Tampa Bay Lightning from the National Hockey League . There, too, the striker acclimatized well and achieved 67 points scorer in 80 games. This made him the most successful scorer of the entire team, which nevertheless clearly missed the playoffs. In the summer break that followed, Vesce did not extend his expiring contract and switched to the Binghamton Senators franchise as a free agent within the league . There he could no longer match the point production from the previous year, but with 51 points he was still among the team's best scorers.
Since Vesce had only signed a contract with a validity of one year in Binghamton, he left the team after missing the qualification for the playoffs and moved back to Europe. There he joined the Finnish SM liiga club HIFK Helsinki before the 2007/08 season . He played together with Steve Guolla at the traditional Finnish club . Vesce, who was again the best scorer of his team with 44 points, had just like Guolla a significant contribution to the successful qualification for the playoffs. There, however, the team failed in the first round. His stint in the SM-liiga ended after only a year, as Vesce returned to the United States. On August 13, 2008 he signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks from the NHL, who used him in their AHL farm team, the Worcester Sharks . There he was appointed team captain and successor to Graham Mink shortly before the start of the season . The striker repaid this trust to the team and coaching staff with good performances, which is why he was nominated for the AHL All-Star Classic for the first time . In addition, following the benefit game, he received an invitation to the NHL squad San Joses for the first time, but was ordered back to the AHL before his first use. Almost two weeks later, on February 11, 2009, he finally made his NHL debut after a renewed appeal against the Pittsburgh Penguins .
In the summer of 2010 he moved to the Continental Hockey League for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod , for which he was active for the following two game years. He then moved to Skellefteå AIK from the Elitserien , before he was given to Espoo Blues in January 2013 .
From early summer 2013 Vesce was under contract with KHL newcomer KHL Medveščak Zagreb and then collected 36 scorer points in 58 KHL games for the club. Following the 2013/14 season, he moved to HK Dinamo Minsk with four team- mates - including Matt Ellison and Jonathan Cheechoo . In October 2016 he switched to HK Tractor Chelyabinsk within the KHL , but left it again a month later.
On 18 January 2017 he was selected by Friborg-Gottéron from the National League A committed.
