Parish church

Rzyki is a village in the powiat Wadowicki in Poland in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship . It is located about seven kilometers southeast of Andrychów , twelve kilometers southwest of Wadowice at the foot of Mount Leskowiec (922 m above sea level) in the "Little Beskids" in the middle of several national parks.

history

The first mention of the place is dated to the year 1560. The first inhabitants are attributed to the ethnic group of the Gorals , who immigrated from the Carpathian Mountains . In historical times, the residents hired themselves to produce wood shingles . In the 18th century weaving and glass production were added.

Attractions

The wooden parish church of St. Jakuba, built around 1800, and a man-high statue of John Paul II are worth seeing .

tourism

Rzyki lives largely from tourism. A nature reserve ( Rezerwat przyrody Madohora ) and the Little Beskids create a charming environment. Numerous holiday apartments are available. It is popular with mountain bikers who, in addition to wild trails, also have a special five-kilometer slope available. Otherwise, another 400 km of bike paths in the area provide enough space.
