history

The place arose in the 16th century on the ground of the village Wieprz and formed a whole with the village Sułkowice, which belonged to the noble Gierałtowscy family. The name of the village comes from the word targanie , d. H. Scuffle . Shrubs and trees were pulled up here to prepare the ground for settlement.

During the first partition of Poland , Targanice became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). In 1790 Stanisław Ankwicz died and the village was separated from Sułkowice.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Targanice became part of Poland. This was interrupted during the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the district of Bielitz in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ).

From 1975 to 1998 Targanice was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .

Roman Catholic Church

In 1966 the Roman Catholic parish was established.
