The Social Democratic Party of the Canton of Bern - in short: SP Canton Bern - is the largest cantonal section of the SP Switzerland . It comprises 7 regional associations, over 130 local sections and around 6,300 members (as of January 2019). The SP Canton Bern was founded in 1905. Since November 2018, Councilor Mirjam Veglio from Zollikofen and Councilor Ueli Egger from Hilterfingen have shared the Co-Presidium .

The latest party program of the SP Canton Bern was decided in 2007. According to these principles, the party strives for a just society. She advocates a strong constitutional state because only this can protect weak members of society and ensure that the rules are observed by everyone. The SP Canton of Bern stands for a bilingual canton that actively acts as a bridge between German and French-speaking Switzerland .

Party leadership

The party leadership manages the day-to-day business of the SP Canton Bern with the planning and organization of events and committees, with media work and contacts with other organizations. Management
