SR 2 Kulturradio (own spelling: SR 2 KulturRadio ) is the second radio program of the Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) and covers the genre of culture in the broadest sense. As a public radio channel, the broadcaster offers a varied program in line with its basic service mandate . It is entitled: "... good to hear".

history

SR 2 Kulturradio was started in 1967 as " Studiowelle Saar ", from 1972 to 1991 in cooperation with Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) and Südwestfunk (SWF). In the years 1991 to 1994 the broadcast content of hr2 , the 2nd radio program of the Hessischer Rundfunk , was switched on. The SR 2 Kulturradio, so named since 1990, has been on the air since January 1, 1995 as a full-day program.

The target audience includes people interested in culture and people who are interested in backgrounds and opinions on politics and world affairs. Critical and questioning program contents are an essential component. The predominant colors of music include classical music, new music and jazz. The broadcast formats offer reports from politics, business, culture and society, as well as documentation with background information.

The broadcaster's impact is often used to broadcast productions by the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern (formerly the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra).

In 2012, the Saarländischer Rundfunk began a program reform in order to implement cost-cutting measures in the SR 2 Kulturradio program. Radio features are only available on public holidays, and two fewer radio plays are produced each year than before. In addition, the radio play date will be moved from Thursday to Sunday afternoon. There are fewer live transmissions to save line costs.

In order to take account of changed listening habits, SR 2 Kulturradio audibly reformed the daily program from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. from June 29, 2014. Musically, the wave is increasingly relying on a cross-over concept of classical, jazz, world and sophisticated pop music, which had already been tried out in various programs in the morning, at noon and in the early evening. The journalistic word share of the broadcasting lines has been significantly expanded. According to the broadcaster, emphasis is placed on strengthening regional (cultural) reporting.

reception

The culture and information channel of Saarland broadcasting can be received in the ARD digital radio bouquet via satellite and terrestrially in the whole of Saarland via VHF and digital radio DAB, as well as via internet stream on the transmitter homepage.
