Saaß is a locality and a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Litschau in the Gmünd district in Lower Austria .

history

Saaß was settled in the first half of the 18th century. The place name is not mentioned in the legacy treatises of the first half of the 18th century, nor in the registers of the first half of the century. From 1746 the newly founded huts of Saaß are mentioned in the land register. The place name appears in the registers from 1752.

Settlement development

In 1751 Saaß had 24 subordinate houses.

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 39 building areas with 19,983 m² and 17 gardens on 7,771 m² in the cadastral municipality of Saaß, in 1989/1990 there were already 55 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had increased to 128 and in 2009/2010 there were 63 buildings on 122 building areas.

Agriculture

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 228 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 163 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 213 hectares and 177 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 203 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 178 hectares. The average soil climate of Saaß is 16.3 (as of 2010).
