The Saatsee is a multi-purpose ship operated by the Kiel-Holtenau Waterways and Shipping Office .

history

The ship was ordered in February 2010 by the mechanical engineering department for the Kiel-Holtenau waterways and shipping office and built under construction number 5020 at the Fassmer shipyard in Berne / Motzen. The keel of the ship was laid on September 22, 2011, the launch took place on August 15, 2012. The ship was christened on September 26, 2012 at the building yard of the then water and shipping office in Rendsburg and then put into service. Godmother was a trainee at the Waterways and Shipping Office.

The ship replaces the Nordmark tug and the Friedrich Voss tour ship , which was decommissioned on February 16, 2007 .

commitment

The ship will be used on the Kiel Canal during structural maintenance work on the canal's facilities, such as B. when removing and installing the lock gates, as well as for pushing or towing floating equipment of the waterways and shipping authorities Kiel-Holtenau and Brunsbüttel and in the shipyard at the building yard of the waterways and shipping authority in Rendsburg . Other tasks of the ship relate to the river and shipping police supervisory service as well as general assistance and security. So the ship can be used as a tug . The bollard pull is 15 t.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two MAN - diesel engines (model: D2842), each with 529  kW power driven. The two motors act on two rudder propellers . In the bow of the ship there is a transverse thruster control system with an output of 150 kW. Two diesel generators with an output of 182 kW and 95 kW were installed to generate electricity . An emergency generator is also available.

The ship, similar to a tugboat, has four decks and an open observation deck . A fire extinguisher monitor with a delivery rate of 500 m³ / hour is located here. The ship is equipped with a third-party bilge system. The ship has an echo sounder system for surveying tasks . On the open working deck in the aft ship area is located on the port side, a hydraulic crane. The lifting capacity of the crane is 1.5 t with a 10.2 m extension. The maximum outreach of the crane is 12.3 m. The tow hook is located behind the superstructure . The ship has ice class "E1".

There are two double and one single chambers on board for up to five crew members . The ship is approved for the transport of 25 people and, in exceptional cases, can also be used as a replacement for ferry traffic across the Kiel Canal.
