She learned to ski at the in-house lift of her adoptive father Josef Simader, who also acted as her first trainer. At the age of ten she was first club champion at the Hansberg . The family later moved to Haus im Ennstal , from where Sabrina attended the Schladming main ski school. In the summer of 2012, her stepfather suffered a fatal heart attack .

Simader is the only athlete on the Kenya Ski Team. Since the sudden death of her father, she has been looked after by ex- ÖSV trainer Christian Reif, who has already trained Alexander Khoroschilow .

Simader celebrated her first successes in 2012 with the Styrian student championship titles in super-G , giant slalom and combined .
