Sagadate ( Sagadati ) is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Laga ( Baucau municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Sagadate had an area of ​​22.48 km². Now there are 23.77 km². The Suco is to the east of the Laga administrative office. To the north is the Suco Saelari , northwest of the Suco Samalari , to the west the Sucos Libagua and Tequinaumata and south of the Suco Atelari . In the east, Sagadate borders on the administrative office of Luro ( Lautém municipality ) with its Suco Afabubu . The border river here is the Liqueliu , a tributary of the Dasidara . The Gomilafo , which crosses the east of the Sucos , also flows into the Liqueliu .

A country road runs through the west of the Sucos and connects the towns of Baucau and Baguia . The village Alasafa ( Alacafa ) and a larger settlement center, which consists of the towns of Selegua ( Selegoa ), Ia Sula ( Lasula ), One-Bu'u ( Onebu ) and Samagata , are located on it. To the east of it are the places Auraba ( Uaraba ), Beliuali ( Beli Uali , Beliwali ) and Ulabuti ( Ulabute ). Further to the east, on the west bank of the Liqueliu, are the village of Naha-Afa ( Naafa ) and between the rivers Liqueliu and Gomilafo the villages of Sire-Bu'u ( Sirebuu ) and Abuti . There are primary schools in the settlement center ( Escola Primaria Catolica Sadagati ), Alafasa, Auraba and Abuti. The settlement center also has a medical station.

In the Suco there are the eleven Aldeias Abuti , Alasafa , Auraba , Beliuali , Ia Sula , Naha-Afa , One-Bu'u , Samagata , Selegua , Sire-Bu'u and Ulabuti .

Residents

The Suco has 2,750 inhabitants (2015), 1,360 of whom are men and 1,390 women. The population density is 115.7 inhabitants / km². There are 600 households in the Suco. Over 95% of the population name Makasae as their mother tongue. Besides is Tetum Prasa spoken.

history

In August 1978, four East Timorese civilians were arrested by Indonesian soldiers on Mount Tokegua , near Samagata . They had left their refugee camp in search of food, but did not have a permit. One person was killed at One-Bu'u, another in Uasagia (Laga Administrative Office) and a third in Cotamutu in front of the assembled villagers.

In the 2004/2005 elections , Aureliano de Jesus was elected Chefe de Suco and confirmed in his office in 2009 and 2016 .
