Saint-Géry is a village and a commune déléguée in the French commune of Saint Géry-Vers with 446 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lot department in the Occitania region .

With effect from January 1, 2017, Saint-Géry was merged with the neighboring municipality of Vers to form the Commune nouvelle Saint Géry-Vers. The municipality of Saint-Géry belonged to the Arrondissement of Cahors and the canton of the same name, Saint-Géry .

The place is about ten kilometers east of Cahors , in the Regional Nature Park Causses du Quercy . Neighboring towns of Saint-Géry are:

Saint-Géry is located on the right bank of the river Lot , which here the further north located lime - plateau Causse de Gramat of the same type, more southern lying Formation Causse de Limogne separates.

Transport links

The most important road connection is the departmental road D662, which leads from Cajarc to Cahors and on the right bank follows the river, which here runs in many tight turns. It is therefore not a thoroughfare, but mainly serves local traffic and tourism. A railway line also runs through the area, on which the Quercy Rail tourist train operates.

Attractions

In the steep cliffs of the Lot Valley there are caves and grottoes that were inhabited in prehistoric times. They are registered as a monument historique .
