Saint-Jean-sur-Couesnon is a village and a commune déléguée in the French commune of Rives-du-Couesnon with 1,180 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in Brittany in France . On the western side Saint-Jean-sur-Couesnon is crossed by the Route nationale 84 , combined with the European route 3 . The settlement area is on average more than 60 meters above sea level. The name affix testifies to the Couesnon river , which forms the border with Saint-Marc-sur-Couesnon in the north .
The municipality of Saint-Jean-sur-Couesnon was merged on January 1, 2019 with Saint-Georges-de-Chesné , Saint-Marc-sur-Couesnon and Vendel to form the Commune nouvelle Rives-du-Couesnon. It belonged there to the Département Ille-et-Vilaine , the Arrondissement Fougères-Vitré and the Canton Fougères-1 . The neighboring communities were Saint-Marc-sur-Couesnon in the north, La Chapelle-Saint-Aubert (point of contact) and Vendel in the northeast, Saint-Georges-de-Chesné in the east, Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier in the south and Mézières-sur -Couesnon to the west.
