Bleury Railway Bridge

Bleury-Saint-Symphorien is a village and a former French commune with 1,246 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Eure-et-Loir in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belonged to the Arrondissement Chartres and the Canton of Auneau .

The municipality was created in 2012 as Commune nouvelle through the merger of the former municipalities of Bleury and Saint-Symphorien-le-Château without the status of a Commune déléguée for the old municipalities.

With effect from January 1, 2016, the previous municipalities of Auneau and Bleury-Saint-Symphorien were again merged to form a Commune nouvelle called Auneau-Bleury-Saint-Symphorien and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Auneau.

Culture and sights

Saint Martin Church in Bleury

The Saint Martin de Bleury church was built in the 13th century and expanded in the 16th century. In 1881 wall paintings from the 16th century were discovered. In 2007 the church was entered in the additional directory of the Monuments historiques and thus protected as a historical monument . In the church is the tombstone of Léonor de Lars, dame de Saint-Sec, from 1517. In 1904 it was classified as a Monument historique .

In the church of Saint-Symphorien in the district of Saint-Symphorien-le-Château there are three works of art listed as Monument historique . A 16th century sculpture depicting the Pietà , a 16th century baptismal font or holy water font, and a 15th century relief depicting the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
