Salina [ səlaɪnə ] is a city ( City ) and the county seat of Saline County in the US state of Kansas with just under 50,000 residents.
The place on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad , the US Highway 40 and the Smoky Hill River is the origin of the jeans brand Lee and is home to a plant of the aircraft manufacturer Hawker Beechcraft .
This is where the Salina Municipal Airport ( IATA : SLN) is located, from which billionaire Steve Fossett made various record flights with the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer .
The Salina Art Center is located in the seat of the Diocese of Salina with the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and the Episcopal Diocese of Western Kansas with the Christ Cathedral .
