administration

Samba is a municipality (Distrito Urbano) in the district ( Município ) of Luanda, in the province of Luanda . The community has about 54,000 inhabitants and consists of 345.3 square kilometers. It is located south of Luanda on the Atlantic Ocean .

In the east, Samba is bounded by the communities of Maianga and Kilamba Kiaxi , and in the south by the district of Talatona . Samba includes the Corimba and Futungo Fein districts. The former districts of Benfica and Massulo , in which the spit known as Ilha do Mussulo is also located, have been separate communities since 2011 .

environmental pollution

The local beaches are so polluted with rubbish that they pose a health hazard. The main reason for the garbage accumulation is the drainage ditch from Luanda, which leads into the sea in Samba and is used by the district administration and the residents as a garbage dump. At the beginning of 2016 there was an outbreak of yellow fever , which also resulted in many deaths. In March of that year, a vaccination campaign against yellow fever began in Samba. After the city government banned the sale of fish on Mabunda Beach due to the enormous amount of fish waste, there was an increase in unemployment, alcohol abuse, prostitution and crime.
