Samtse ( བསམ་ རྩེ་ རྫོང་ ཁག་ ; formerly: Samchi) is one of the 20 districts ( dzongkhag ) of Bhutan . About 67,525 people live in this district (2012). The Samtse area covers 1309 km².

The capital of the district is the eponymous Samtse .
