Sámal Pætursson Lamhauge

Sámal Pætursson Lamhauge ( Danish : Samuel Pedersen Lamhauge ; born 1676 in Lamba near Nes on Eysturoy , died on January 27, 1755 there ) was Løgmaður of the Faroe Islands from 1706 to 1752 .

Sámal Pætursson was the great-great-grandson of Jógvan Heinason , the half-brother of the Faroese sea hero Magnus Heinason . In 1706 he married Armgard Marie Weyhe (born around 1685), a daughter of Løgmaður Jóhan Hendrik Weyhe , and lived with her on the Á Steig farm in Sandavágur , which was the official seat of Løgmaður in the Faroe Islands for centuries.

The couple had eight children including:

  • Armgard Maria Samuelsdatter Weyhe (1720-1765). She married Hans Christoffersen Svabo (Svabonius) in 1736 and was the mother of both Jens Christian Svabo and Armgard Maria Svabo (1739–1798). Armgard Maria Svabo is the mother of Jørgen Frantz Hammershaimb and grandmother of VU Hammershaimb . Armgard Maria Svabo was also the mother of Marianne Sophie Hammershaimb (1773-1828), the wife of Johan Hendrik Schrøter .
  • Rachel Samuelsdatter Weyhe (1720-1768). This daughter was married to his successor in office, Hans Jákupsson Debes .

Sámal Pætursson, like his father-in-law, was one of the largest landowners in the Faroe Islands at 40 merkur .
