Samuel Piette (born November 12, 1994 in Repentigny , Québec ) is a Canadian football player .

Career

Piette only decided to pursue a football career at the age of 14, having previously played in various junior ice hockey teams.

In the club

In 2007 he began his career at ARS Lanaudiere and moved to FC Boisbriand in spring 2008 . After Piette had developed into a top performer in Quebec and played in various junior provincial teams, he received an invitation from Europe in May 2009 to do a trial training with the then French second division club FC Metz . He signed a youth contract with FC Metz in the summer of 2009 and played the 2009/10 season for the club's U-17s.

In June 2012 Piette received an invitation to a trial training at Fortuna Düsseldorf and then switched to the German Bundesliga club at the time . There he was in the A-Youth (U-19) squad in the 2012/13 season . He also made two appearances in the second team before he became an integral part of the regional league team for the 2013/14 season . On April 4, 2014 he played his first competitive game in the first team and in the 2nd Bundesliga when he came on for Erwin Hoffer in the 2-1 away game at SC Paderborn 07 . After the season Piette left the club and signed a contract with Deportivo La Coruña , where he will be used in the B team. News of the is de Racing Ferrol in the Segunda División B awarded.

After returning to Deportivo La Coruña at the beginning of 2016, he switched to CD Izarra , which also played in Segunda División B, six months later . Piette joined Montreal Impact in early August 2017 .

National team

Piette played in his youth for the U-17 and once for the U-23 national team of Canada. He took part for the U-17 of Canada at the U-17 World Cup in Mexico in 2011 , but did not survive the preliminary round with the team. In 2012 he played in the qualifying second leg for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but could not qualify with the team.

He developed into the top performer of the U-17s and was called up for the first time in the senior national team of Canada in February 2012, but was not used in the friendly against Armenia . National coach Stephen Hart called Piette again in June and so he made his A-international debut for Canada on June 3, 2012 against the US national soccer team at BMO Field .

In July 2013 he was part of the Canadian team that took part in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup .
