Rod Fanni (born December 6, 1981 in Martigues ) is a French football player who is under contract with Montreal Impact . He plays in the position of right-back .
Career
society
Rod Fanni, whose parents come from Benin , started playing football as a youth in his hometown at FC Martigues ; From 1999 he was part of the third division squad with which he rose to Division 2 in 2000. Two years later, the RC Lens brought him to northern France, where he made his first appearance in the top division in September 2002 . In 2004 the club loaned him to LB Châteauroux . The next stop was OGC Nice for two seasons ; Fanni has been under contract with Stade Rennes since summer 2007 . By the start of the 2009/10 season, he had played 155 games in Ligue 1 and 16 games in the Champions League (with Lens) and the UEFA Cup (for Lens and Rennes). In the 2009/10 season he was the only Ligue 1 player who had been on the pitch for a full 90 minutes in all 38 league games.
During the 2010/11 winter break, Fanni moved to Olympique Marseille for a transfer fee of 4 million euros . In July 2015 he moved to al-Arabi in the Qatar Stars League , but was loaned to Charlton Athletic for the entire season . After the 2015/2016 season he returned to his previous club Olympique Marseille for free, which transferred him to the North American MLS at Montreal Impact in March 2018 .
National team
In August 2008 Rod Fanni, who has already made five appearances for France's Espoirs internationally , was appointed to the squad of the French national team for the first time . In mid-October he then made his debut with the Bleus on the occasion of the friendly against Tunisia ; he was in the starting line-up as a right-back. In the 2008/09 season he was used in two other international matches. In May 2010, Fanni was appointed to the provisional squad for the 2010 World Cup by national coach Raymond Domenech .
