San Miguel is a municipality in the Filipino province of Bulacan , in Administrative Region III, Central Luzon . As of the 2015 census, San Miguel had 153,882 residents living in 49 barangays . It is classified as a first income class community in the Philippines and as partially urbanized .
San Miguel's neighboring communities are Candaba in the west, Gapan in the north, San Ildefonso in the south and Doña Remedios Trinidad in the east. The topography of the city is characterized by flat lands . The western part of the municipality is located in a depression in which the Candaba river marshes spread out. An area known to ornithologists around the world . Parts of the Biak-na-Bato National Park are located in the municipal area.
San Miguel is of great historical importance to the Philippines since the first Provisional Republic of the Philippines was proclaimed in the Biak-na-Bato Caves in July 1897, the Republic of Biak-na-Bato , and the first constitution of the Philippines on May 1 , 1897 November was passed there. However, the republic was dissolved on December 15, 1897 with the signing of the Treaty of Biak-na-Bato between the Filipino and Spanish parties.
