San Jose del Monte City , Tagalog : Lungsod ng San Jose del Monte , is a Filipino municipality (Component City) in the province of Bulacan , in the administrative region III, Central Luzon . According to the 2015 census, San Jose del Monte City had 574,089 residents who lived in 59 barangays . It is classified as the first income class community in the Philippines and as urbanized .
San Jose del Monte City's neighboring communities are Rodriguez in the east, Caloocan City in the southwest, Quezon City in the southeast, Marilao in the west, Santa Maria in the northwest, Norzagaray in the north. The topography of the city is characterized by the mountains of the Sierra Madre in the northeast, which merge into a flat hilly terrain in the southwest.
In the metropolitan area, parts of the most important drinking water reservoir for the metropolitan area of Metro Manila , the 37 kilometer long Angat Reservoir, are located in the northeast . The Angat Watershed Forest Reserve was established to protect it . The most important educational institution is the Bulacan State University .
