Sandra Lück
Sandra Ramona Ruth Lück (born November 28, 1974 in Lünen ) is a German animal rights activist and politician from Vettweiß . From October 8, 2016 to August 2, 2020 she was one of several federal chairmen of the Animal Welfare Party with equal rights and from April 2017 to August 2020 she was also the state chairman of North Rhine-Westphalia .
Life
After a report on animal transport, Lück decided to become a vegetarian in 1990 . She has been vegan since 2014 . The trained general manager worked temporarily as an office worker. She now works as a team leader in a telecommunications company. At times she lived in the Essen districts of Kray and Leithe , then from 2015 to the beginning of 2018 in Velbert . She has lived in Vettweiß since March 2018. Lück is married and has two daughters.
politics
After Lück learned of a Romanian law in 2014 that legalized the killing of dogs, she joined the Animal Welfare Party in the same year . From March 2015 she was an assessor in the federal executive committee. On September 13 of the same year she also ran for the mayoral election in Essen and got a total of 1789 votes, which corresponded to 1.2%. From November she was the deputy federal secretary of her party. At the federal party conference on October 8, 2016, she was elected alongside Horst Wester and Matthias Ebner as one of three federal chairmen with equal rights after one of them had become vacant due to Bettina Jung's resignation at the end of 2015. In a fight vote, she narrowly prevailed against Sonia-Ellen Hösl. From 2015 to January 2017, she was also a member of the party's North Rhine-Westphalian state executive as an assessor. She has been the first chairwoman there since April 23, 2017. For the 2017 federal election , she was the top candidate on the North Rhine-Westphalian state list of her party. At the federal party congress in Erfurt on December 10, 2017, she was confirmed her office as federal chairwoman, as was in 2019. In the following year, she was elected fourth on the federal list for the 2019 European elections.
Animal rights
In March 2015, Lück helped organize a demonstration in front of the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Justice; The occasion was the animal experiments carried out in Covance's monkey laboratory in Münster . Around 100 people came to the demonstration itself. In addition, she is one of three chairmen of the Human Animal Rights Association founded in early 2016 . Together with her husband, she also brought a total of seven - ultimately unsuccessful - lawsuits against the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection (LANUV). At the end of 2016, Lück and Patricia Kopietz, the Baden-Württemberg State Secretary General of the Animal Welfare Party, presented the Mayor of Tübingen, Boris Palmer, with 24,000 signatures of an online petition directed against animal experiments on monkeys. At the beginning of 2017, she organized a demonstration against goose riding in Wattenscheid and filed a criminal complaint because she saw the participants' approach as a violation of the Animal Welfare Act. She also regularly takes foster animals into her home.
