Robert Gabel (born October 14, 1979 in Greifswald ) is a German political scientist and politician . Since December 10, 2017, he has been one of three equal federal chairmen of the Human Environment and Animal Welfare Party (Tierschutzpartei).

Life

In 1998 and 1999, Gabel completed his community service . He then studied political science , business administration , communication science and law at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald ; During this time, he also completed a guest semester at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He completed his studies with the title Magister artium . During his studies, Gabel worked as a freelance communications designer in Berlin and Greifswald from 2000 to 2007 . From 2008 to 2013 he worked in education management for specialists at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry , and during this time he was also a lecturer in an education center. Since 2010 he has been managing director of the Greifswald University Promotion Agency. He has been working as a quality manager and auditor since 2017 .

He was a member of the FDP until 2011 , where he was part of the Greifswald district board. In 2014, Gabel participated in the reactivation of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Association of the Animal Welfare Party . Along with Marvin Mel Medau, he was elected one of two equal state chairmen; from mid-2015 he shared this office with Patrick Simann. From 2016 to 2019 he was sole chairman there, and from February 2019 to 2020 he was secretary. At the federal party conference in November 2015, he was elected as a member of the federal executive committee. In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2016 , he was the top candidate of his party; the latter won 1.2% of all votes nationwide. In the federal election in 2017 , he ran on the second list place in his state, and was additionally Direct candidate in the Vorpommern-Rügen - Vorpommern-Greifswald I . There he got 1.3% of the first votes; the direct mandate went to Chancellor Angela Merkel .

At the federal party conference on December 10, 2017, he was elected alongside Sandra Lück and Matthias Ebner as one of three federal chairmen with equal rights after one of them had become vacant two months earlier due to the resignation of Horst Wester . In the same year, after Jan Zobel's retirement, he also became editor-in-chief of the party newspaper MUT-Magazin , which at the beginning of 2018 was renamed Mensch Umwelt Tier - The magazine for culture, politics and society . At the party congress in 2018, he was elected to second place on the federal list for the 2019 European elections and just missed entry. In the course of the municipal elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2019 , he was the top candidate of his party in the state election in Greifswald and in the district council election of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district and was elected to both bodies. In addition, he is a party member of the federal working groups for human rights / development / asylum policy , universities and international affairs . From 2019 to 2020 he was also accredited parliamentary assistant to Martin Buschmann , who moved into the European Parliament for the animal protection party.
