The Sankt-Nikolai-Kirche Richtenberg is a 13th century church building in the town of Richtenberg in Western Pomerania .

Building history

The parish church under the patronage of St. Nicholas of Myra was built on the highest point of the city, south of the large market square. The square choir is from a building made of field stones and bricks in the middle of the 13th century . At the beginning of the 15th century the nave and the western church tower were built. The upper floor of the tower was added later. The pyramid roof was last renewed in 1995.

Exterior

The choir has two pointed arch windows in the north and south and three in the east. In the gable of the choir, three arched panels are incorporated into the lower row of panels, and a cross into the upper one.

The nave was built as a three- bay stepped hall made of brick and has three-part windows with triangular connections.

inner space

The choir has an eight-ribbed domical vault with a large ring-shaped keystone . The nave has a rib vault on octagonal pillars and has a late Gothic painting that was heavily renewed in 1913/1914.

Furnishing

The church's furnishings include a baroque pulpit , which was made in Lübeck around 1725 , altar barriers from the end of the 18th century, and the remains of a stone baptism with a crucifixion relief. The barrier on the east side of the pulpit staircase comes from Elias Keßler's workshop and was made in 1727.

organ

The organ with a neo-Gothic prospect was made by Friedrich Albert Mehmel (Stralsund) in 1861 and repaired in 2002. The instrument has 18 stops on two manuals and a pedal (mechanical slider chests with double bellows ).
