Sante Portalupi

Sante Portalupi (born November 1, 1909 in Mortara , Pavia province , Italy ; † March 31, 1984 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican diplomat .

Life

Sante Portalupi received on 15 April 1933, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope John XXIII appointed him apostolic nuncio in Honduras and Nicaragua . On October 14, 1961, John XXIII appointed him. the Titular Archbishop of Christo Polis . The Prefect of the Congregation for the Order of the Sacraments , Benedetto Aloisi Cardinal Masella , ordained him episcopal on December 3 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in Milan , Francesco Bertoglio , and the substitute in the Vatican State Secretariat , Curia Archbishop Angelo Dell'Acqua .

On September 27, 1967, Sante Portalupi was appointed Apostolic Delegate to the Central African Republic . Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 4, 1972 as Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Algeria and on March 22 of the same year also as Pro-Nuncio in Tunisia . On March 5, 1976 Portalupi was also pro-nuncio in Libya and Morocco . Pope John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal on December 15, 1979 .

Sante Portalupi attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
