Sarah Konrad

Sarah Konrad (born August 26, 1967 in Bishop , California ) is an American cross-country skier and biathlete .

Sarah Konrad holds a PhD in geology from the University of Wyoming . She started competitive sports very late. It was not until the age of 31 that she started competitions in cross-country skiing at the national level. In 1999 she took part in the first international races. In December 2000 she was able to achieve first good placings at the Continental Cup in Valcartier as second over 15 kilometers and third in the 10 kilometer race. She made her debut in the Cross-Country World Cup in 2001 in Soldier Hollow , where she was 37th in the pursuit. In February 2001, she won her first Continental Cup race in Marquette ( Michigan ). In 2002 she won her first national title in a 15-kilometer race in Canmore . In 2004 she won another title in Rumford in the 30-kilometer race. At the end of 2004 she also won a 10-kilometer race as part of the North America Cup. In 2005 she started for the first time at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf and was 23rd in the 10-kilometer race.

In 2003, Konrad began biathlon in addition to cross-country skiing. She has been a member of the US national team here since 2005. She made her international debut in 2004 at an individual in Geilo as part of the European Cup. In the Biathlon World Cup started Konrad first time in 2005 in Antholz and was 83rd in a single. In 2005 she took part in the biathlon world championships in Hochfilzen for the first time and achieved a 50th place in the individual as the best placement. In 2006 she won her only World Cup point in the sprint at Holmenkollen in Oslo as 30th.

2006 joined Konrad in the Olympic Games of Turin in both cross-country and biathlon at. In cross-country skiing she was in Pragelato Plan in the 30-kilometer race 32nd and in the biathlon individual 62nd and 75th in the sprint. Konrad was the first female athlete from the USA to qualify for the Winter Olympics in two disciplines.
