Sartana (fictional person)
Sartana is a fictional character who was portrayed in some spaghetti westerns.
The Sartana, usually wrapped in a long black duster like a gravedigger, is a master marksman who can outsmart his opponents using numerous tricks and unusual aids. He thus became "a mixture of Sherlock Holmes and James Bond in the Wild West". Five films appeared in the official film series around the character; Gianni Garko played Sartana in the first four , while George Hilton played him in the last film .
Garko had already played Sartana in the film Mille Dollari sul nero , which was shown in Germany under the name of the title hero , but it was completely different in form and character.
Numerous films from other production companies tried to profit from the commercial success of the character and also called their films or a protagonist "Sartana".
