The Saukopfmoor nature reserve is located in the district of Gotha and in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia . It extends northwest of the core town of Oberhof . State road L 3247 runs east of the area and L 1128 to the south.

The 34.6 ha area with the NSG no. 41 was placed under nature protection in 1961.
