Cogua is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Cundinamarca in Colombia , which for metropolitan Bogotá belongs.

geography

Cogua is located in the north of Cundinamarca in the province of Sabana Centro at an altitude of 2600 meters in the Colombian Andes , 50 km from Bogotá and 5 km from Zipaquirá and has an average annual temperature of 14 ° C. The municipality borders Tausa in the north, Nemocón in the east, Zipaquirá in the south and Pacho and Zipaquirá in the west .

history

Cogua was founded in 1604, when the Oidor Lorenzo de Terrones had the indigenous peoples of the Némesa and Peza settle at the site of the present-day place and had a church built.
