La Mesa is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Cundinamarca in Colombia .

The Spanish biologist José Celestino Mutis started his botanical expedition in La Mesa in 1783, during which studies of flora and fauna were carried out.

La Mesa is located in Cundinamarca , in the Tequendama province , about 65 km from Bogotá at an altitude of 1200 m above sea level. NN and has an average temperature of 22 ° C.
