Granada is a municipality ( municipio ) in the Colombian department of Cundinamarca .
geography
Granada is located 30 km southwest of Bogotá in Cundinamarca in the Sumapaz province at an altitude of 2500 to 2700 m above sea level. NN and has an average temperature of 11 ° C. The municipality borders on Silvania and Sibaté to the east, Viotá and El Colegio to the west, San Antonio del Tequendama and Soacha to the north and Silvania to the south.

history
Settlement of the area of today's municipality of Granada took place relatively slowly. In the first half of the 20th century, the land was inhabited by a few farmers. In particular, the wood deposits in the region were processed. Around 1932 there were about 300 people in Granada. Since 1933 Granada had the status of a police inspection. Until 1974 the official name was El Soche . It was not until 1995 that Granada received municipality status.
