Cajicá is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Cundinamarca in Colombia , which for metropolitan Bogotá belongs.

geography

Cajicá is located in Cundinamarca, in the province of Sabana Centro , about 39 km from Bogotá at an altitude of 2558  m above sea level. NN and has an average temperature of 14 ° C. The municipality borders on Zipaquirá in the north, Chía in the south, Sopó and Tocancipá in the east and Tabio in the west .

history

Cajicá was with the arrival of the Spaniards from the indigenous people of the Muisca under the cacique inhabited Kajic and was surrounded by a high wall. The place was conquered by Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada . There are many legends about Cajicá. In addition, Cajicá is one of the few communities in the region that was not officially founded by the Spanish. Cajicá received the status of a community in 1798.
