Says is a village in the Fünf Dörfer district in the former Landquart district of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland . Since January 1st, 2008, Says has been part of the Trimmis community .

geography

The village lies above the Chur Rhine Valley on sloping terraces above Trimmis . It consists of the three districts of Valtanna ( 871  m above sea level ), Untersays (944 m above sea level) and Obersays (1,095 m above sea level) and numerous Maiensässen such as Stams and individual farms between the Haagtobel in the north and the Valturtobel in the south. Beyond a mountain range between the Cyprianspitz (1,774 m above sea level) in the north and the Ful Berg (2,395 m above sea level, highest point of the former municipality) in the south, the area with the Sayser Alp extended to the rear Valzeinatal; there the Schranggabach formed the eastern border for long stretches . Of the entire municipal area of 1442 hectares, 748 hectares are covered by forest and wood. More than 80% of the 501 hectares of arable land are Alpine farms. Of the rest of the former community area, 180 ha are unproductive area - mostly mountains - and 13 ha are settlement areas.

coat of arms

Description : Silver rafters lowered in black, accompanied by three increasing (right-turned) silver crescent moons. The moon as a typical coat of arms of the Walser refers to the settlement history. Colors of the Lords of Aspermont , identical to those of the Church of God .

history

The place, mentioned in a document in 1222 as Seian's , was probably sparsely populated by Rhaeto-Romans as early as the 11th century . In the 14th century, like in neighboring Valzeina, Walser settled down. Says belonged to Trimmis until 1880, after which it formed an independent municipality until 2007, which was dissolved on January 1, 2008 when it was reunified with Trimmis.

population

Of the 156 residents at the end of 2004, 153 (= 98.08%) were Swiss citizens.

Economy and Transport

In the 20th century, Says developed into a commuter residential community. Agriculture and forestry continue to dominate the town itself, providing work for 27 people. 7 employees were employed in the commercial sector, 10 in the service sector (as of 2000–01). The community is connected to the public transport network with the Trimmis – Says post bus , which is mainly operated as an on- call bus .

Attractions

The reformed village church is a listed building .

Community merger

A project group set up in 2003 came to the conclusion that a merger between the municipalities of Trimmis and Says ... represents the right future-oriented step . On April 26, 2005, both community boards agreed to this recommendation. On May 8, 2007, the two municipal assemblies approved the merger with a large majority. On June 17, 2007, the urn community in Trimmis made a final decision.
