Schönborn is a district of the municipality of Frielendorf in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse .

Geographical location

Schönborn is located in the northwestern foothills of the Knüllgebirge around 5.5 km south-south-west of the main town, between the Frielendorfer villages Leimsfeld in the north-north-west and Oberbegrenzebach in the south-east and the Schwalmstadt village of Niederlimitebach in the south-west. To the north past Schönborn the Schwalm tributary Gers flows roughly in an east-west direction .

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in 1260 in a document from the Spieskappel monastery . In 1747 a mill is mentioned in the village. From December 31, 1971 to December 31, 1973, the municipalities of Schönborn, Leimsfeld and Oberbegrenzebach formed the municipality of Grenzebach. The Grenzebach community went up on January 1, 1974 in the Frielendorf community.
