The company, founded in 1929, was converted into a stock corporation in 1992 and went public in 1994. The product range consists of a large number of traffic engineering systems and the company differentiates between stationary traffic engineering (e.g. level crossing security) and mobile traffic engineering (e.g. door systems).
Stationary traffic technology
Pintsch Group, Dinslaken
The stationary traffic technology division includes the Pintsch-Bamag Group with Pintsch Bamag Antriebs- und Verkehrstechnik GmbH in Dinslaken with the subsidiary Pintsch-Aben in Maarssen in the Netherlands. The company Julius Pintsch AG - was founded in Berlin in 1843, Bamag in Dessau in 1870. The Pintsch-Bamag Group has been part of Schaltbau since 1987.
Products for railway signaling technology (railway signals, safety systems for level crossings), equipment for rail vehicles (energy supply systems, heating systems), acoustic and visual warning systems (light bar and special signaling systems for the police, fire and rescue services), drive technology (brakes for heavy-duty cranes) and navigation signs ( Signal beacons and bucks, signaling devices for equipping lighthouses and locks) and obstruction lights for aviation.
The 364 employees in this division generated around 60 million euros in the 2006 financial year.
Mobile traffic technology
Bode Group, Kassel
The mobile traffic technology division includes the Bode Group with Gebr. Bode GmbH & Co. KG based in Kassel and with subsidiaries and associated companies in Athens in Greece (since 1984), in Bursa in Turkey (since 1995), Beijing in the People's Republic of China (since 1997) and Rawicz in Poland (since 2005). Production and assembly take place at all locations, the development center is in Kassel. The company was founded in Kassel in 1968 and has been part of Schaltbau since 1995. In December 2009, the 49 percent stake in the Chinese Beijing Bode Transportation Equipment Co. Ltd. sold for 800,000 euros.
The product range includes door systems (exterior and interior swing doors , revolving and folding doors , pivoting sliding doors) and boarding aids for buses and mainline, underground and tram rail vehicles as well as sliding door fittings for small vans. The company's customers are companies in the rail and automotive industries.
With 1169 employees, the group achieved a turnover of 110 million euros in 2005, while Bode itself had around 570 employees in 2006 and achieved a turnover of 97.5 million euros.
Schaltbau GmbH Group, Munich
The Schaltbau GmbH group with headquarters in Munich and other locations in Velden and Aldersbach also belongs to the mobile traffic technology division . It has subsidiaries and associated companies in France (since 1979), in the United States (since 2001), in India, in Hong Kong (since 2004) and in Xi'an (since 1994) and in Shenyang (since 2006) in the People's Republic China. Schaltbau GmbH was founded in 1929 and has belonged to Gutehoffnungshütte , later MAN , since 1936 .
The product range includes electromechanical products for industrial and traffic engineering, including connectors, snap-action switches, DC contactors, travel and emergency brake switches, command and signaling devices and electrical equipment for passenger coaches.
In 2014, the group had around 763 employees who generated sales of 108 million euros.
Share and shareholders
The company's share capital is divided into around 8.85 million no-par value registered shares . The shares are traded on all German trading venues and electronically via Xetra in the regulated market .
