history

Scheven was originally a place dominated by medium and small farmers, which can be seen in the outbuildings of the former farms . Two farms still exist today. The neo-Gothic church of St. Apollinaris and Agatha , completed in 1861, was built by the Scheveners with their own funds since 1857 opposite the former school built in 1827. Church patrons are St. Apollinaris and St. Agatha . Scheven has many well-preserved half-timbered houses , most of which are listed.

The center and meeting point for many events of all kinds in Scheven today is the “Saal op de Kier”, where the carnival society also holds its events. The Rhenish Carnival naturally also includes the prince proclamation and ceremonial meeting in Kall-Scheven under the direction of the Elferrat and the big parade on Carnival Tuesday.

In the village of Scheven there is also a riding stables with a guesthouse, a gift shop, a restaurant with a guesthouse, a large gardening shop, a kindergarten, a hairdresser and a pottery.
